The Worthy Mentoring App

The Coming Out & Being Out App

Many of us go through hard times on our own. We struggle to come out to our parents. We aren’t sure how to be out at work. We grow up in or move to places that aren’t accepting—places where we feel targeted and vulnerable. We shouldn’t have to go through these experiences alone, and we shouldn’t be forced to use dating apps to find support. Worthy Mentoring makes it easier for members of our community to navigate the coming out and being out journey.

What is a Worthy mentor?

Worthy Mentors are vetted and verified individuals desirous of supporting others in their LGBTQ+ journey. Worthy Mentors use their experience, wisdom, and connections to ensure all LGBTQ+ individuals come to understand, accept, and love themselves. If you have navigated coming out and being out, we invite you to use that experience to make it easier for those behind you. To put it simply, Worthy Mentoring gives you the tools and platform to become the person you needed when you were coming out - and we invite you to sign-up!

How does the app work?

The Worthy Mentoring App allows members of our community to sign up as either a mentor or mentee.

Upon singing up as a Worthy Mentor, we guide you through an application process that includes a short questionnaire, LGBTQ+ training, and a background screening powered by a third-party partner. Our goal is to ensure we create a safe and empowering platform for everyone. For more information on signing up as a mentor, please view our Mentor Review Process.

Upon signing up as a Worthy Mentee, we allow you to remain as anonymous as desired and guide you in immediately connecting with a verified and vetted mentor for support. Worthy Mentees are able to filter for mentors by sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, profession, ethnicity, residence, topics to discuss, and more to match with a mentor most relevant to their LGBTQ+ journey.

After a match is generated, both individuals are presented with professional resources, guidelines, and handbooks - in partnership with the Trevor Project, National SOGIE Center, Born This Way Foundation, Whitman Walker Health, and many others - to facilitate successful and empowering mentorship! Finally, we require our mentors and mentees to review and abide by our Community Guidelines, which outline the parameters and objectives of Worthy Mentoring.

OUR PROMISE.

We take the privacy of our community very seriously. We recognize that not all individuals are in safe environments or are comfortable sharing personal information. The Worthy App is very clear on the limited use of your information to facilitate empowering mentorship matches, and you can always reach out to us at help@worthymentoring.org if you have any further questions.
